With the Glenroi area growing quickly following the establishment of the [[Email Whitegoods factory]] in 1946 the need for facilities increased and in 1951 Council began constructing Glenroi Oval behind the site for the new Glenroi School in [[Maxwell Avenue]] with tree planting on the western boundary carried by the [[Glenroi Progress Association]]. Glenroi oval is today the home of hockey in the City with 2 synthetic hockey fields allowing the game to be played year round and at night.
